UNDERSTANDING DIVERSITY, INCLUSION & BIAS IN THE WORKPLACE

Diversity and inclusion are interconnected concepts that refer to the variety of unique individuals that make up a group of people and the environment that allows them to work together as equally valued contributors. Workplaces that prioritize diversity and inclusion efforts have been statistically proven to be safer, happier, and more productive work environments.

However, bias is prevalent in every aspect of our lives. Our brains are hardwired to categorize things we encounter in order to make sense of the complicated world around us. Biases can cause us to form prejudices against others, which allows for egregious inequalities to form between different demographics.

While bias comes in many forms, this training will focus on diversity and inclusion as well as implicit / unconscious bias and its role within the workplace. We’ll cover what it is, where and when it happens, along with ways to include diversity and inclusion and reduce implicit/ unconscious bias and ultimately build a more diverse inclusive workplace.

Learning Objectives:

Cultivating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace is not a one-and-done exercise. Instead, it requires continuous education with regular check-ins and constant touch points. My Diversity and Unconscious Bias Training is a great first step on the path to building a more demographically aware and empathetic workplace. Upon completion of this one-day training, participants will develop knowledge in the following areas:
